Living a rock and roll fantasy

Kimberley Dahme lives her dreams as the only woman in the power-rock band Boston.

BY CHRIS SHULL
The Wichita Eagle

After years of trying to get ahead in the music business -- as a singer, guitarist, songwriter and solo recording artist in Nashville -- Kimberley Dahme finally hit it big in the most unlikely of places, a bass-player and back-up singer for the progressive power-rock band Boston.

A gig at the Fiesta Bowl in December 2001 was her first with the band. She's toured with them ever since, the first woman in Boston since the group was founded by Tom Scholz in the mid-1970s.

Boston coming to Council Bluffs

CANDICE FISHER , Staff Writer 07/01/2004

After completing a tour promoting its latest album "Corporate America," the band Boston will be back on tour to help satisfy the demands of its fans.

"Boston is notorious for staying in the recording studio. We usually don't do tours back-to-back, but because last year went so well, we've decided to go back on the road again," said Brad Delp, one of the band's original members.

Although they will revisit some of the cities from last summer's tour, the majority of their performances will be in venues they did not visit last year. One of their stops will include Ameristar Casino-Hotel in Council Bluffs on July 25.

It's more than a feeling that keeps Boston going

By ROBERT DiGIACOMO

Where lead singers for other classic rock bands have faltered, Brad Delp has found staying power as the voice of Boston for nearly 30 years.

Other than Boston founder Tom Scholz, Delp is the only original member still in the band, which is known for hits like "More Than A Feeling" and "Amanda."

"I've been lucky over the years," says Delp, who appears with the band j17

8 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. "They set up a microphone - all I have to do is sing and stay healthy."

Scene and Heard: Boston's back

THOMAS DIMOPOULOS , The Saratogian 06/25/2004

It is Wednesday morning and Kimberley Dahme is in a Boston hotel room caught in an emotional whirlwind of utter exhaustion and outright exhilaration.

'You have to excuse me. We had a late night last night,' says Dahme, whose specialty these days is playing bass guitar alongside classic rockers Tom Scholz and Brad Delp in the band Boston. The group is in production rehearsals for their upcoming tour, which kicks off at the Glens Falls Civic Center July 13.

Hazardoous Landing

The Boston Globe

By Carol Beggy & Mark Shanahan, 1/6/2004

HAZARDOUS LANDING Tom Scholz, the leader of the band Boston, was safe after a single-engine plane he was piloting made an emergency landing late Sunday at an airport near Lexington, Ky., as he was traveling from Arizona to Massachusetts. The plane had lost half its power 26 miles from Lexington. "He is a pretty accomplished pilot, but it was overwhelming when the fire truck and police cars met his plane," said a Scholz spokeswoman, Gail Parenteau. Boston is playing the National Anthem at the Patriots game Saturday in Foxborough.

Here's Boston, With It's Album For The '90's Out

``Let's face it; there are always changes in rock and roll since the last Boston album," Tom Scholz says. "I mean, there's been a new president for every album."

Scholz isn't kidding. In 19 years, his band has put out just four albums; Ford, Carter, Reagan and Clinton were the White House occupants. Madonna has put out more than twice as many albums in half that time.

Climates - musical and political - may have changed, but Boston hasn't. The sound on Walk On, which came out last June and was Boston's first album in seven years, is of a stylistic piece with the album's three predecessors. The production is dynamic and Teflon-clean. The guitar assault comes courtesy of Led Zeppelin, the melodic sensibility from the Beatles.

BOSTON

At: the House of Blues, Monday night

Usually when the band Boston performs, it's a high-pressure gig in a packed-to-the-gills arena. Remember, this was the band that made its New York debut by playing three nights at Madison Square Garden in the late '70s. No other band has done that before or since. And Boston still holds the record for most Worcester Centrum shows in one engagement -- a whopping nine nights back in the late '80s.
