Good news about BOSTON's appearance at the Come Together tribute for Brad. I  finally got acknowledgment last week that our offer to play had been accepted, and the arrangements have been sorted out.

Sorry for the long delay in relaying confirmation of our set in Brad's tribute, but we had a little trouble getting information ourselves. I didn't even know for sure if BOSTON was in the show, until I read it in the paper! We originally made the offer about two months ago, but I'm sure that everyone was very busy trying to work out the problems that inevitably accompany an event with so many bands.

Apparently a publicist disseminated some press information before anyone contacted us. Some of the resulting articles weren't very flattering and seemed to imply that BOSTON didn't have it's act together. We can definitely have our act together, but only when we know we're supposed to put it on a stage somewhere! It's too bad writers would chose to denigrate artists or an event when it is a charitable benefit concert for a man from their own area who was so universally loved.

Following the ensuing tempest in a teapot, everything was quickly worked out. The show is of course a benefit with most of the proceeds going to a foundation being formed by Brad's son, daughter and their family. This will be called the Brad Delp Foundation for musical scholarships and more information will be posted when we get it. We wish Jenna and John-Michael good luck with this effort, I'm sure Brad would love to have been able to hand out the scholarships they are planning to give.

A small portion of the proceeds will also go to the DTS Charitable Foundation I started many years ago. It embodies the commitment to cruelty free living and prevention of suffering to all living things shared by Brad and me. Brad was a major contributor to this foundation which has donated millions of dollars to dozens of well respected charities for animal protection, vegetarianism, anti-violence, cruelty prevention, hunger and public education programs, helping people and animals alike.

This won't be a BOSTON show, but we will play a short set of 7 or 8 songs with Michael Sweet, Mickey Thomas and Sammy Hagar graciously appearing for us in Brad's place. We are extremely grateful to these three awesome rock vocalists for traveling to Boston to help us out. We are also inviting former members Barry, Fran and Sib from the Boston area to join us on stage for the final song "Don't Look Back." We have not yet been able to locate Jim Masdea who played with us for many years in the 70's and 80's.

The promoter has provided a long list of acts and artists from the Boston area who will be performing for this celebration of Brad's life. It will be held at the Bank of America Pavillion on Aug 19th. Doors open at 6:00 PM, see you there!

I have been a long-time fan of the group Boston and was very sad to hear of the passing of Brad Delp. I hold the memories of him and of the band that now carries on without him. They played at the Rockfest in Cadott Wisconsin a couple of times and I just wanted to know if after this tragedy will Boston ever play outdoor gigs again or will the band be held in memory for the great songs that they produced that have been passed down to our children to enjoy?

An adoring fan of the band...

YES YES YES!!!!!
This is one concert that must be recorded, if only for us long suffering fans.
Boston will never be the same without Brad(duh) and a DVD of this event would be
a real treat for the hard core fans.

Can I make one suggestion for the taping of the show?....A DVD with good audio! This is the last chance we will get to see our favorite band perform. This is a momentus occassion and should be documented with great detail. Back stage, footage, band member commentary.....the works. I for one would pay a premium for the privilege to own a piece of Rock 'n' Roll history!

I think it so great that you guys are donating your time and effort to acknowledge the great person that Brad seemed to be. I have great admiration for musicians that are willing to donate their outstanding talent, the backstage personnel to donate their expertise for such a great person. From everything I have read, Brad seemed to be the same kind of giving person. Kudos to everyone involved.

I'm sure I speak for all your fans in saying thanks for the update Tom.
I wish I could be there, as Boston has been a major influence on my musical life. Unfortunately, I will be nearby at Cape Cod that day...on vacation with the family. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and be able to go.

Please put on Video this most important event, it will be a great legacy for the band and for Brad as well.

Best to you & the the band.
Jay
