AWAITING CONFIRMATION OF BRAD DELP TRIBUTE APPEARANCE PDF Print E-mail

We are expecting a confirmation within a few days of a tribute for Brad Delp planned by his son and daughter. In response to their invitation, BOSTON has offered to play a short set on Aug 19th along with a number of other artists they have invited, although the list of acts and other details of the event have not been confirmed as of yet. We understand the venue has been changed to the Pavilion on Boston Harbor, formerly Harbor Lights.

BOSTON is going ahead with preparations to appear; we plan to perform six or seven songs. Michael Sweet (Stryper), Mickey Thomas (Jefferson Starship), and Sammy Hagar have all offered to sing for BOSTON in place of Brad. We have also invited Barry Goudreau, Fran Sheehan, and Sib Hashian to join us on stage for the last song, "Don't Look Back," which will be sung by Fran Cosmo.

All of us are currently very busy with other projects, including completing some new BOSTON studio recordings. However, we are excited about getting together for this short performance, and will make time to get it together by August 19th.

See you there!
Tom Scholz

Of all the many rock bands in this world,
boston is i think one of the most unique.
There sound , drive and vocals have never been matched nor will they ever be.
I will forever miss brad's incredible voice and wish I could have met him and told him how much I appreciated bostons music.
Many bands have replaced or used differnt singers through there careers,
including boston, but with no dis- respect to the others,
Brad's vocals are non replaceable.
His time on this earth was truly to short, his vocals could have only been a gift from god .
There will never be another brad delp,
may he rest in peace.

I am a huge fan of Fran Cosmo. I just read on his myspace blog that he will not be able to sing at this concert due to a broken blood vessel on his vocal chord. I am so dissapointed in this news. Fran Cosmo is such a large part of the Boston sound and he will be missed!! I was looking forward to hearing him sing "Don;t Look Back." I am still going to come to the tribute anyway but it will not be the same without Fran singing like he did with Brad all those years he was in Boston.

Someone will undoubtedly record the event. I do hope Tom Scholz keeps writing music though, just not under the name Boston, as to me it's definitely not the same without Brad Delp(not to mention most music buying consumers simply wouldn't go for it).

I would love for Boston to continue on. Tom Scholz will make music in any case and I would love it to be as Boston, and we will have that Boston sound always, albeit sans Bradley so why not continue as a band.

I think the Michael Sweet would be a good singer in Boston. His music is hard rock not exactly Boston type, but his voice is brilliant. Youth and energy would do the band good. How about this line up:

Tom Scholz - Lead Guitar & Everything Else ;D
Michael Sweet - Lead Vocals
Fran Cosmo - Lead and Backing Vocals
Anthony Cosmo - Rhythm Guitar and Backing Vocals
Kimberly Dahme - Bass and Backing Vocals
Gary Pihl - Rhythm Guitar
Jeff Neal - Drums

Bravo Tom. Good choices for vocalists. If you do read this, please don't stop making music. Call it Boston or whatever you want, but we all LOVE your music. We all wish Brad could still sing it, but even without his tremendous voice you still have a great gift for making music that is both inspiring and beautiful. We would all like to hear more someday.
God Bless.
