As I'm writing this, tears are flowing down my face as I listen to Third Stage. I grew up with Boston and have loved every song on every one of their albums. They are truly one of my all-time favorite groups from the age of 13 to my current age of 43 and forever more!!! The loss of Brad Delp is such such a loss to the world and the world of music and Rock n Roll!!! How forever sad for Brad that he didn't realize his amazing gift to all of us and fortunately we will have that forever. We all loved him and his music and the incredible music of Boston. To his fiancee and his family and his friends and fans there are tears on my keyboard as I write this and we all cry tears for Brad Delp. Thank you Brad for what you gave to us and praying that you can see how much you were and are loved and we will have your musical legacy forever.
With deep sadness at his passing,

Another avid Boston and Brad Delp fan forever!!!

No one can walk in another man?s shoes. We wonder why? I saw Boston at the Greensboro Coliseum after the first album. The contribution to music is irreplaceable. The impact is forever. Their melodies and structure has had a huge influence on my music and playing. I?ve worked with many vocalists. Brad Delp would be a dream to most musicians. We will miss him. He can never be replaced. We will never forget him.

I guess the word I keep seeing repeated by Brad's fans is angelic. His voice. I memorized the first two albums from first note to last in my later teens/early twenties (in the 80s). I'm now in my 40s and I'm shocked at his death. I'm very sad. One of my first dates with my husband of 19 years was a Boston concert in 1987. I was hoping to celebrate 20 years of our being together by going to a Boston concert this summer; the tour they had planned. I'm shocked and surprised at how emotional Brad's death has made me. I remember many long road trips with Boston playing, singing along to the vocals and beautiful harmonies as well as the guitar riffs.

Brad, I hope you are in a better place now. I know depression sucks, from experience, but we sure are at a loss here with you gone. I'm sad that you are gone.

My condolences to the family. I know there's nothing I can say that would take the pain away, but Brad will be very much missed by this fan, and he won't be forgotten. I'll be listening to his angelic voice when I'm 90!

I'm from North Carolina and heard my first Boston song when I was in the 7th Grade. (1977) Brad Delp's voice was nothing short of angelic and was a perfect fit for the melodic genius of Ton Scholz's composition's. I never thought I would ever get to see them live, then in 1986 or so I got the see them in the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, NC. We we're in the upper deck, but when Brad Delp stepped up to the microphone and began singing "Peace Of Mind", I literally teared up it was so beautiful. Like finally seeing a long lost friend.

Even more incredible was a few years later the band RTZ played in a small club in Fayetteville, NC. There I was in a crowd of a couple hundred people giving Brad Delp high fives. The fact he would even come to a small club like that speaks volumes in regards to the type of person he apparently was.

My heart goes out to his friends and family. Brad Delp had a great gift that he used with all of his heart. May God Bless him forever.

I can truly say we have lost an icon and life changer. When I need my spirit lifted I always turn to your music, as there is nothing that can feed into my soul more. I can feel the words and sound up and down my entire body. Thank you for many years of great rock and roll and the beautiful sounds that are left for us to remember you by.

I grew up with a Dad that was gifted with a wonderful voice. He was one of the founding members of our local Barbershop chorus and I never thought that I'd hear an equal harmony until I heard Boston. I loved the music and then fell in love with the band when I found out that they were animal lovers like me. My heart goes out to the band. You guys are in my prayers.

As I read all the comments posted here, I am struck by the incredible influence and importance Brad and Tom's music had in all our lives. It seems to have caught many of us at special or transitional times in our lives and either helped us through a tough time or inspired us to greater things. Boston music has always lifted my spirit when I've felt low. Brad has moved on, but "I can still hear guitars in the air..." Many thanks for your gifts to us all.

"More than a Feeling" was the song that made me want to learn to play guitar as a teenager.
Now all these years later, the opening riff is still what I play every time I pickup a guitar.
I still have that first "Cheapo" first guitar.
Her name is "Maryanne".

I was in 7th grade in 1977...I would sneak into my older sisters room and listen to a Boston LP on this little orange plastic record player. I remember thinking wow......this is cool stuff. I am now 41 with a wife and kids. One of my favorite things to do is go into my garage....crank up the Boston through a souped up killer McIntosh set up into some giant Sansui speakers.....and ya know what....
the music never gets old. Even today I was twirlling my gorgeous 4 year old daughter around as she bounced around to "feelin satisfied". Thanks Brad and the whole band for so many years of memories and many younf kisa will STILL be cranking the Boston 10 years from now

Simply stated, one of the best five rock singers of all time. Forever, right along side of Plant and Rodgers. I grew up cruisin' (and singing) to Boston and his awesome voice with my high school buddy and best friend, whom I would lose at the young age of 31 to a plane crash. We both loved that band so much. Luckily for me, my wife loved them as well. So much was our mutual admiration of the band that our first son was extremely close to being named Boston. Thanks Brad (and obviously the other members) for the fond and cherished memories! You've brightened many a day for many a soul.

When Brad Delp died, a part of me died. I will always remember the first Boston album in the summer of my senior year in high school. This was the time of my first true love, Linda, and the Boston 8-track cranking away as we cruised the summer nights. RIP, Brad Delp, and God bless. Gone to soon.

Oh my gosh, where do I start? Ever since I was a teenager, and even today, I always loved listening to Boston. I traced and painted the Boston logo on my wall when I was 17. I am now 44. I've seen Boston in concert twice in my life. This is a very sad day for my wife and I. To the best singer ever in Rock N Roll, we will always love you Brad. We're going to miss you very much. It was January 1977 and I was in 7th grade. I didn?t even own any rock albums . . . only Disney storybook records that my mother forced upon me ? I hate Bambi and Peter Pan to this day. Anyway, I was visiting my grandparents in California, and my aunt ? only 2 years older than I was ? pulled out the Boston album and played More Than A Feeling for me on her old beat up record player. I felt like I had discovered something amazing for the first time in history ? fire, the wheel, I don?t know, something big! Then Peace of Mind played and I could feel my eyes and my heart swelling as each successive song blew me away. I?d never heard anything so good in my life and I begged my aunt to buy me a copy. She did and that winter I took Boston and, unwittingly, Brad Delp into my home and my life. I listened to that record over and over, front to back so many times I couldn?t tell you how many. Like many others, I listened to Boston and instantly felt free from anything that might be going wrong at the time. Brad?s voice, the guitars, the music, they just took me away. I tried so hard to sing all the notes with him, to be like him ? I couldn?t quite hit all those really high notes and just about blew out my vocal chords trying, but just trying made me happy. I?m crushed by what has happened to Brad and to the Band and his family. Why do bad things happen like this? Was it a moment of weakness? An ongoing incurable sadness? Why Brad? But I will remember you, as will so many others, as the man who, with the others in his timeless band, Boston, brought happiness into my life . . . I pray so fervently that wherever you are Brad, you?ve found happiness too. Your friend, DB

He must not have known that his impact on my generation was as great as the Beatles were on his. I remember driving in my car listening to Boston and always trying to sing along and not being able to because the vocals were so unbelievable. It made singing Beatles songs seem easy. What a gift. He sounds like he was also someone who meant a lot to the many people who were lucky to know him personally because he made them all feel special. We need more folks like him around. I wish he would have stuck it out.

I was stunned when I first heard the news. Boston was always my band still is. I am a long haul owner operator from Chicago. My first album I ever got was the Boston debut in 1977 was I was 7 and had my first real record player. The 4 Boston cd's always recieve heavy rotation as I'm trucking the miles away from coast 2 coast. However as I write this almost a week later and details of his passing come to light I just want to honstly say depression can it anyone anywhere. While it may seem like Brad had it all going for him: Planning to wed fiance, pleausre of plaing in Beatlejuice, Boston hooking up again and hitting the road unlike more tragic entertainment news the passing of one of my favorite stand up comics Richard Jeni, the question I'm sure is they had so love to give everyone, yet why they could not give it to themselves? As I mentioned as a trucker, I see in truckstops and on road people of all walks of life. Depression is something others cannot see. It looks like they have the world in thier hands and then something like this takes place and stunns everyone. I only hope Brad has found himself in a better place. Boston, like the Police and Eagles should put thier differences aside and Sib, Barry, Tom, and Fran should hit the road with another smokin singer and do it for all the fans one more time and for Brad. My deepest sympathies to everyone. Brad's remarkable voice and Boston will not be forgotten. The music will always live on for me.

My favorite band is Boston, my favorite singer was Brad. He blessed us with his talent. My first 8 track when I turned 16 was Boston, I grew up with Boston playing, many memories still come up when I listed to the songs. At 46 I play guitar on our Worship band at church, with a Boston flare.. My brother Mike and I still love to play those wonderful songs on our axes. I am so sad to hear we lost Brad.
May our Father in Heaven engulf him with his love, and grace, and may he sing for eternity with that glorious voice we have been so blessed to experience...
I lift up his family in prayer at this time of loss.

1978 was the first time I heard Boston's More Than A Feeling, I was 6 years old. Because Don't Look Back came out, they promoted it with More Than A Feeling to remind people in the Netherlands. I fell in love with the music immediatly. And even though I was a very young boy, I somehow felt this was different than everything else at the time. I told my mam I wanted to play guitar. So I did. Not only the guitar parts but also the voice of Brad Delp got me into it. Boston has become a part of my life; because of Boston I started playing guitar, because of Boston I started playing other instruments, because of Boston I started making selfmade records at home, I learned from Boston how to record, because of Boston I use Rockman..in short; because of Boston I got into music in the first place and I can't think of a life without it. This is also true; since Boston's Third Stage came out, I listened to this abum every single day, I still do. People who know me and think about me, think of Boston almost at the same time. So when Brad Delp died, a part of me died also. Rest in Peace mr Delp. Boston will never be the same.

after such a heartbreaking, sad, senseless travesty(i'm still wiping away tears) and the incredible genius of "More Than a Feeling" the remaining original members should shoulder some blame, forgive themselves, each other and get back together..next they should find/call/track down/google a man named Freddy Cerci from Toronto area once of the band Sherrif(When I'm With You )..He is by various accounts a decent, humble fellow and also one of the very, very few mortals who can sing the stuff Brad sang flawlessly..all of you fans who love this music and are sad and heartbroken byond belief please put the word out..it should not end.. tell Tom Scholz, Barry, Fran and Sib Hashian..find a way of getting thru ..I'm not prepared to have Boston out of my life and especially not in a way like this..the music had hope..songs like "Peace of Mind" and several songs off of Dont Look Back come to mind..the remaining guys have a responsibility to the music...this sometimes incredible music ..and they owe a debt to Brad with all their bickering and him often caught between all that crap..do the right thing for Brad, for the music and for the sense of hope that this brilliant music and gifted man inspired..you four guys get your s$%%t together and do the right thing..not Tom and four hired clones..not Sib, Barry and Fran on their own..theres four of you..do it and all you fans out there..swamp their websites until these guys listen..and i still am wiping the odd tear..Brian Robertson Brownfield Alberta Canada

I was saddened to hear of Brad?s untimely death. I was always a fan of BOSTON from the first time I heard them. Every time I hear a BOSTON song, it reminds me of those fun college days in the 80?s. In my long drives to and from school, I would always have a BOSTON tape that I would listen to several times. I?ve seen a lot of concerts, but I never had a chance to see BOSTON. Actually, I should say that I wasted my opportunities to see something that I will never be able to experience now, and that makes me even sadder.

Through his music, Brad shared his sadness and his pain, his triumphs and his dreams. He touched us all as he sang. If it was in sadness, we empathized, and if it was joy, we cheered for him. I didn't know him by name, but when I realized who it was that ended his own life, I cried. I lit candles in his name, and played the "Rock and Roll Band" CD in tribute to him. When "Hitch A Ride" came up, my favorite song suddenly became the saddest as he was "carried away for the last time."
It seems it's always the nicest people who suffer the most.
They just cannot seem to cope with the world as it is, and their place within it.
Jesus tried to make us understand that the only thing He ever wanted for us is LOVE. The superficial things that we are made to feel are so important, are not.
You were ALWAYS loved, Brad. And you will ALWAYS be.
And Now your Heavenly Father will behold you and tell you so.

This is a truely sad time. I just logged onto the bands site and for the first time I saw that Brad had passed. My first thought was, "Oh my god". I would like to extend my wishes, thoughts and prayers for his family, friends and fans that his incredible talents have touched. From the time I could hear practically I was immersed in music and had a great appreciation for it. I fell in love with the music and lyrics when I was able at the age of 4 to go see Boston in concert. I was hooked. From that day on, I have bought, copied and re copied my albums. I have all my original vinyl and in later days Cd's that will be passed down because everyone should hear his voice for yeras to come. I have only been to 9 concerts in my life and 4 were Boston shows. I could always rely on (and still will) his voice and the entire band to lift my spirits on days when I have not felt the greatest or have been down in the dumps. I remember signing(not even close to as gracefully Brad sang it of course) 'Amanda' to a my girlfriend. So many great memories. Thanks so much Brad, Tom, Barry, Fran. What a tragic loss this is. This sums it up..... "We've just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll." I don't think anyone else could have said it better.
God Speed Brad Rest In Peace. ou'll always live on in my heart and Thank you.

I wanted to share with you my Boston experience. I have only been to four concerts in my life, two of them being Boston. My husband "John" is a longtime fan and he had heard that Boston was going to be in Charlotte NC and Raliegh NC.We had planned on going to Charlotte, just alittle closer, I then made the best mistake in ordering tickets for the first time. I got them for Raliegh, not knowing what I was doing and ended up in the fourth role toward the right. We were simi-alone.I had just went threw minor surgery on my liver,I could tell during the night my liver was there. Just stunned by the stage set up listening to the music,Brad must have been resting his voice, all of the sudden Brad had jumped out from back stage and gave us a smile and a wave. You think it couldn't have been better till we went to Danville Va, an outside arena. We had noticed the buses outside the fence and I wanted to see them , a few more people came up. We were talking about how great it would be able to travel. We noticed a man walking toward us and would you know it, there's Brad, He had his finger across his mouth letting us know not to scream, something I was good at. He just starts taking and signing autograhs.By the time he reached us,he had to leave.Tho we didn't get an autogragh the experience of just standing feet away from him was more than enough. The news of Brads death has brought alot of tears for John and I as well as everyone who loves Boston. The memories tho will last a lifetime.Thank You Boston for being the band you are and for touching so many lives. We'll love you forever!

The outpouring of love from the many fans and friends of Brad is encouraging, but it underscores how perplexed we feel when someone we love takes their own life. We wonder that Brad had a loving family, friends, fiance and bandmates, not to mention the millions of fans who adored him and his talent. Couldn't he feel our admiration, love, respect? Well, I had a very talented brother who squandered his own life with a drug overdose, and I came to the realization that although we all loved Dave, he didn't feel that love. He couldn't believe he was worthy. Perhaps it was like that for Brad. The loved ones, fans and friends left behind may try to figure out what they could have done, and the truth of the matter is that they could have done nothing. We are left with our loss and sorrow and millions of questions. We can't torture ourselves. We can only resolve to remember the great times and celebrate his life. We can resolve to encourage those in our personal realm to get professional help if they are suffering mental health issues. We can resolve to love more truly, care more actively, take our friendships more seriously, nuture those in our lives and take joy in the time we have together, no matter how long or short.
Peace to you Brad, rest gently.

Denise

As a life long fan of Boston, I'm truly sad to know that Brad will no longer be a part of the band; physically....not spiritually. As an admirer of his voice, I will miss hearing that great voice of his at their concerts or new music, that might have been. It is truly tragic that he felt so strontly that he no longer wanted to be a part of this life, even though he has so many that love him; depression is truly a powerful thing. My heart goes out to those closest to him; I only wish that I could have had the privelage of knowing him. Boston with it's unique sound, together with Brad and his distinguishable yet incredible voice, will not be forgotten; after all...who could forget a legend.

Sincerely,

Dave

Picture this! Hot Summer day, looking for a cool place to hang (the garage) it's always cooler in the garage. Got the Boston cranked up and just passing time listening to that perfect music. I loved those albums i think i washed them. Never get enough of More than a feeling!!! Boston made the 70's and 80's rock! "youll forget about me after I've been gone" I don't think so Brad. Thanks for your song!

Dear Brad and family:
I am so very sorry you were so sad. No one else can understand the thoughts we have in our minds but I want you ( and your family ) to know that you brought me joy. I had the good fortune to have attended a Boston concert shortly after the release of the first album. I was overwhelmed! So, thank you for your music, which will continued to make others happy. My prayers go with the family.

I am in shock that this man did what he did. There had to be some inkling as to what he was feeling. I just cannot believe he committed suicide. I put his voice up there in the top 5 of rock n roll. Amazing control who could hit high notes in his day. To the family of Brad, I am deeply sorry you will have to endure this for as long as you live. I understand depression is a serious thing, but it can be helped. I don't understand how he could not be helped. Maybe I have a bit to learn. I mean, nobody could help him? And he was getting married and touring and still no one could help? No one??? Where was his fiance? Friends? Family? Did they know he was suicidal? Jeez. I don't believe in suicide. I believe it is as selfish an act, as it gets. I believe there is a way to help. It may take time, but it's better than the damn alternative.

Mr. Cosmo,
I've written/posted more than once already regarding this great tragedy. Because of Mr. Delp and Boston, this 48 year old can turn 18 in a flash, all with the insert of a CD or a play on FM. Yessir, Boston above all the music that is part of the soundtrack of my life can remove the years and the age and make my heart feel young again. God gifted Brad Delp with the voice that we were meant to
