Tom Scholz of Boston, left, plays ’Peace of Mind’ with Michael Sweet of Stryper at the Phoenix Rising to benefit victims of the Station nightclub fire, held at the Dunkin’ Donuts arena. With sparked lighters an unspoken taboo at last night’s Phoenix Rising benefit concert for the survivors of the 2003 Station nightclub fire, many in the audience relied on a different source of light to show unity and inspiration: the glow of their cell phones.Brandon Reid and Gary Hoey first convinced the 5,400-strong at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence to raise their arms and shine their LED lights, but it was passionate performances that made it a rock-fueled night to remember. “Every one of those people at The Station were rockers, and they want to rock,” host and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider told the crowd. “So we’re gonna rock!” More than three dozen performers came together to raise money for The Station Family Fund, which distributes funds to victims and survivors of The Station nightclub fire that claimed 100 lives and severely injured two hundred others five years ago. The fire was caused when pyrotechnics during a Great White concert engulfed the West Warwick club. |

For the past few months, presidential candidate and amateur bassist Mike Huckabee has been performing Boston’s “More Than a Feeling” at campaign events — sometimes even with onetime Boston guitarist Barry Goudreau. But now there’s a problem: Boston mastermind Tom Scholz, who wrote and played every guitar part on “More Than a Feeling,” is an Obama supporter, and he’s pissed off (a similar disagreement recently went down between John McCain and John Mellencamp). |

Although it has been a challenging year, some wonderful things did happen. We are thrilled that our drummer, Jeff Neal and his wife Ann Marie welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Lauren on October 31.
The tribute for Brad in August raised $11,325 for the DTS Charitable Foundation, which was donated in Brad’s memory to The Humane Farming Association. Tom also made a matching contribution from the foundation to Earth Save. These are two organizations that encourage the lifestyle Brad believed in.
Tom recently took some time out from recording some new BOSTON songs to lay the lead guitar tracks for Stryper’s “Peace of Mind” cover that will appear on their next CD. Both Gary and Tom are planning to make a guest appearance with Stryper at a benefit concert on 25 February 2008 in Providence, RI. Proceeds from this show will be going to the Station Family Fund, which provides survivor relief from the horrific February 2003 nightclub fire in Rhode Island.

Nine months after Brad Delp's death, wrangling over the Boston singer's estate continues. Delp's fiancee, Pamela Sullivan, is still living in the house the couple shared, but it's unclear for how much longer. We're told Sullivan would like to stay, but she's so far been unable to reach an agreement with Patricia Komor, Delp's long-ago girlfriend who got the house in Atkinson, N.H., when the singer died. Neither side is talking, but word is Komor, who's married and living in Colorado, is planning to sell the house when the real-estate market improves. Until then, Sullivan could continue as a tenant, paying rent to Komor. Delp was 55 when he committed suicide last March by carbon monoxide poisoning. To the surprise of almost everyone, the "More Than a Feeling" singer left the house in New Hampshire and all of its contents to Komor even though he'd proposed to Sullivan last Christmas. Delp and Komor were together for six years after his separation from his wife Micki in '91. The Boston frontman also helped put Komor through law school, a fact that hasn't been forgotten by Delp's two grown children, Jennifer and Michael, who, we're told, may ask Komor to repay the loan if she insists on giving Sullivan the boot.
